Have been told it is a Tibetan Empress. Perhaps it is Kuan Yin.
Large Lotus Flowers Adorn Her Ears. A Serpent / Snake Is Entwined In Her Hair Design. On One Side of Her Head Is A Dragon With Inlaid Eyes and Teeth. On The Other Side, A Bird With Inlaid Eye. I have been told the inlay is some kind of bone.
I have searched extensively and not found this exact Female Rosewood Mask. It is in excellent vintage or antique museum quality estate condition. It has a heavy metal hanger and also a notch that would also work for hanging.
It measures approximately 11″ H x 8″ W. The label on reverse reads, “No. 11020 10″ MADE IN THE PEOPLES REPUBLIC OF CHINA” Again, my measurement seems to be closer to 11 inches top to bottom.
